A beautiful beach on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State, Rialto offers a great variety of sights and sounds.  A broad beach at low tide encourages a long hike, with possible sightings of sea lions, grey whales, a pod of orcas, or sea otters playing in the surf at dusk. Just be sure to read the tide table at the trail head; that beach disappears at high tide! You do not want your return hike after dark to be one of climbing over huge logs and rocks in order to avoid the waves lapping at your feet.

Standing on the beach near Hole In The Rock, waiting for the sunset to be just right, I think of the story of eons told by the rocks, and the ineluctable forces of time and water.
